Tell Me About the Money, Honey!

Money is simply an energy, however it is an energy that has a lot of significance on this planet.
As with any energy, we develop a relationship with it because on Planet Earth most of us need it to survive and/or thrive. And, as with any relationship that we develop, it incorporates our beliefs, emotions and perceptions which are based on our past experiences. So, as all of our relationships reflect a part of us, so our relationship with money is also a reflection of us, based on our past history which is still playing out in the present moment.
Generalising for a moment, most people see things as cheap, at the right price, expensive or they don’t give the price a second thought. When they express that thought it is, of course, a reflection of what’s going on with them, and with their belief system aka relationship to money and their inner world. Depending on their choices at that point, their purchase usually reinforces the belief in their inner world. For example, if someone sees two products and decides to buy a cheaper one because they can’t afford the expensive one, then they are reinforcing their belief system that they can’t afford “x”, and the pattern is likely to continue for a lifetime, unless you decide to do something about it.
Those type of conscious thoughts have usually evolved as a result of a deeper core belief that might be “I don’t have enough”, “I don’t deserve” or something similar. Beliefs like this might have come from past or present lives, from personal, parental or cultural experiences or a combination of the above. It doesn’t really where, when they are there.
And that’s pretty normal for a lot of people i.e. constant reinforcement of a belief system or pattern that they don’t actually want to be part of. I spent a day recently with a good friend, and we had a nice chat about this challenge as she had confessed to struggling in certain aspects of her financial energy attraction. After the chat and during the remaining 6 hours that I spent with her that day, I noticed that she commented 11 times that something was too expensive (I was counting out of curiosity rather than judgement!). I didn’t say anything, however I did reflect afterwards that this as being normal human behaviour. For most people are often unable to do something different, or do anything other than reinforce our existing situation unless they are paying particularly committed to themselves, or until life/the Universe forces them into doing something about it. For unless that Universal kick up the bum comes, then most people aren’t ready to make that leap to commit and make the effort to change a deeper pattern, as it does require commitment and that often means application. Strange as it may sound, it’s often easier to stay in the pattern (and thus the past) than to break free for it. There are a multitude of reasons why that’s the case, however fear does play a large role in non-change.
In the spiritual/energy/personal development world, money is always an interesting discussion, and it seems to be an area that invoke strong opinions or even resistance in people. Some people even masquerade under the idea that it is wrong to have money, and there are even a few people that have the idea that money is somehow “dirty” and unspiritual.
People forget that it’s their own emotions, subconscious patterns that create this reaction and that underneath money is only energy, whatever other people in the world might do with it. Understanding that, and then doing something about on the inside is critical, if you have abundance issues.
My own story is that I grew up in a poor family where negative belief patterns around money were constantly reinforced verbally, emotionally and behaviourally. When I first got a job at the age of 18, I couldn’t even afford to buy my own suit to go to work in. I had three years of living in a distinct lack of abundance, and survival mode, before I had an flash of inspiration, I changed my inner belief systems almost overnight and I started earning much better money in the outside world almost immediately too.
However, my story didn’t end there because 14 years ago when I quit my well-paid job, I slipped back into a poor, and frankly fear-based, relationship with money when I didn’t have a salary coming in every month. Then I manifested the reality of “not being able to afford” for a couple of years, until an understanding of the spiritual world through a couple of courses, where I re-discovered how my inner world create my outer world before I could ease my way back into prosperity thinking.
My belief system is now quite simply a knowing that between me and the Universe I am always taken care of financially and in good time too, and I always will be. I know that whatever happens with me, I am able to attract what I need, and if that stops then it means I have to go inside and do some more work.
Before I go on, I would like to acknowledge the obvious that money cannot buy peace of mind, heal broken relationships, buy true friendships or build meaning into a life that has none, and as the Beatles sang, it…”Can’t buy you love”.
However, it is an always very relevant example that most people in life can relate to in some way. For at this moment in time, it’s a necessity on this planet for the vast majority of us, and perhaps if a few more people changed starting changing their negative belief systems and relationship towards money, then it would be more evenly distributed around the planet, as there is enough for all of us here. Anyhow, that’s another story.
Money and abundance is one of the key areas where our inner limiting core beliefs can be very active. I have a friend who is a hypnotherapist that works with people for abundance issues, and she doesn’t believe at all in past lives, but often has to say to me with a great sigh “I’ve got another one of those folks from the swamp for you to sort out please.” She calls the past life territory “the swamp” because so many people and their current lives seem to get stuck there.
If you believe in past lives (and whether you do or not is largely irrelevant if there’s a core belief running in your subconscious mind that’s sabotaging your current life that appears to come from somewhere in your history) then they do often seem to be a veritable “swamp” for limiting beliefs around money. Unfinished lives in the religious, spiritual type lives (money and spirituality or God don’t mix?), in impoverished circumstances (I’ll never have enough) or ascetic style lives (which are characterized by severe self-discipline and abstention from indulgence) are just a few areas that can be explored as sources for blocks of this nature. Whether it is the situation itself or emotional, psychological aspects of the past story, the effect is the same.
Wherever the limiting core belief comes from, the point to bear in mind is that it can invariably be changed with a bit of commitment to yourself.
So to come round in a full circle, if you want to change your beliefs about money and abundance, because you don’t have any, you don’t have enough, you make it and you lose it too easily or whatever else, then start observing you in everyday reality. Notice your relationship to the energy that is money, what you say about it and if necessary change it. Like I observed my friend saying something was expensive 11 times, then observe yourself, and if you start to notice patterns then change the relationship that you have. Imagine you could afford it, though don’t want it right now, change your language around how you react to financially loaded situations, say something different to yourself…perhaps an affirmation or a mantra might be the way to change your perspective, meditation or some deeper work with hypnosis/regression/theta healing etc.
Whatever you do “do something different” and continue to do something different.
Now, you might think all these talk about limiting beliefs and money and abundance challenges is building up to a sales pitch, and you’re half right, as most of the things I offer around abundance are either selling well, or not quite ready to go yet.
I do have an mp3 on my site “Money Does Grow on Trees” however this is the one that is actually selling quite well at the moment in America, and people are even investing in the more expensive version (which is the same as the cheaper version), and so I am chillaxed about that.
And I am planning on running an “Abundance Transformation” weekend retreat cum bootcamp for energy/spiritual peeps in the autumn, though I haven’t finalised the dates or the venue yet, so there’s actually nothing for sale there yet, though you can register if you want.
And I haven’t finalised the dates for my next life changing “Hypnosis training course” yet either…though again you can register.
So, at the end of those things, what I am really selling is YOU to YOU. For you have the power to change your life by consistently committing to you. That’s all you have to do, and courses, workshops, energy techniques all help with that, but at the end of the day it is all about YOU and your commitment.
I remember the words of an old punk rock song from the 80’s when I write this article “Grab it and change it, it’s yours”. They were singing about the political situation in Northern Ireland at the time, but the point applies to you now, and if there’s anything in your everyday reality that needs a shift, change, dust down, spring clean or complete transformation then “Just Do It”
If you don’t, you may want to complain about the price of my courses, though now you have a good idea what I might say about that. And if you do, then you will recognise them for what they are which is fabulous value for money that will enrich your whole life!!
Enjoy
