Whilst sugar occurs naturally in many foods, and our bodies can cope with that, the real problems arise when we add sugar to food and drinks and when we eat confectionery and fizzy drinks that contain more refined sugar than our bodies can safely process.

Many experts now go so far as to say that refined sugar poses a huge danger to health in modern society, and these are just some of the potential problems:

  • Calories rich in sugar are 11 times more likely to cause type 2 diabetes than general calories.
  • Sugar is the single biggest cause of obesity.
  • Sugar itself has no nutritional value. Excess sugar cannot be converted into energy; instead it is converted into liver fat, which in turn causes problems like heart disease and diabetes.
  • Sugar is the single biggest cause of tooth decay and tooth loss. It  literally rots our teeth.
  • Sugar increases your risk of chronic illness, including obesity, heart diabetes and much more
  • Sugar is mood-altering; it creates an emotional roller coaster of highs and lows and it simply exhausts us.

Sugar is a sweet-tasting poison. It is addictive, and it tricks our brains into thinking we’re not full when we actually are.
